Cross country teams state bound
Both the boys and girls cross country teams will compete in the State UIL Meet this Saturday in Round Rock, Texas.
The teams competed last Saturday in the Region one cross country meet with the boys winning the meet and the girls finishing in second.
Sophomore Treet Alison led the boys finishing in 11th, sophomore Joseph Trevino in 15th, senior Kole Bryan in 33rd, junior Jacob Wilhelm in 37th and freshman Dylan Knight in 38th.
“We are extremely happy with the way we finished at region,” Bryan said. “We are hoping to carry this momentum into state and get on the podium.”
Senior Kaitlin Rodriguez led the girls team finishing in fourth, freshman Angel Hayden in 14th, senior Jordan Norris in 15th, senior Karah Diaz in 44th and senior Ashli Melton in 50th.
“Finishing second at the region meet, we were very grateful,” Rodriguez said. “We knew going into the meet that we might be fighting for third place with more than a couple of teams. We look forward to our best time of the whole season at the state meet on Saturday.”
