JV football scores big win after opening loss
The Canyon junior varsity football team starts week three of the season with a record of 1-1.
They lost their first game against Lubbock High in a hard fought game, 27-28. However they came back the following week ready to demolish the Pampa Harvesters. Canyon won 29-6. They will face Plainview at Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldog Stadium Saturday.
Sophomore Jake Garland said that he felt the linemen need to work on their running game.
“I feel like since we are playing Saturday not Thursday, we have more time to get prepared and we’ll be ready,” Garland said.
Sophomore Garrett Cob said game attendance might be an issue.
“I wish we were playing on Thursday just because it’s during the week and more people will want to come,” Cobb said.
Cobb also said he thinks the team will build up throughout the rest of their season.
“So far I think it’s going pretty good, but I think it will get better,” Cobb said.
