Tennis begins district with win over Dumas
The varsity tennis team opened district yesterday with a win over Dumas, 14-5.
“I think we performed very well as a team,” senior Sammy Hogan said. “There has been much improvement since last year which is always good.”
Hogan said that winning their district opener was great for their team moral.
“This win will motivate us a lot seeing how Dumas is probably our hardest competition, besides Amarillo High, in our district,” Hogan said.
Canyon will play El Paso Jefferson tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. at the high school courts. The Eagles will play El Paso Austin and El Paso Andress Saturday at the Amarillo National Tennis Center.
“I expect us to perform very well against El Paso and hopefully come out with the win,” Hogan said.
