The Eagle baseball season came to an end last weekend after a three game series against Wichita Falls Rider in the regional semifinals. Canyon started the series strong with a 5-3 win, but could not keep the momentum, losing the next two games 0-4 and 0-1.
“We knew that they got lucky that they won game two,” senior Thomas Garland said. “We had to prepare for that last game and try to get a win out of it. We had to come out even faster because if we let them get up any it would be a long 7 innings. It was a surprise, a disappointment and a letdown to lose that third game.”
Canyon ended the season with an overall record of 33-7.
“Our season overall was pretty incredible, we had a better record than Rider going into the series,” Garland said. “Everyone had pinned us as the underdog so it was awesome to come out as the last panhandle team in the semifinal round.”
