Lady Eagles finished their season in a loss against the Aledo Lady Bearcats 54-31 Friday Feb. 22 in the regional semifinals.
Lady Eagles were 6-3 in district and 29-6 overall.
“I feel like this season went pretty good for having such a young team and only two seniors,“senior Kylee Murgel said.
Murgel said one highlight of the season was beating Palo Duro to go to regionals. The team was focused on the same goal and motivated during warm up knowing if they lost they were finished for the season.
“It’s just a game, but it’s also a talent,” Murgel said. “To be in the girls’ basketball program and to be coached by the best basketball coaches in the state is a privilege.”
Murgel put emphasizes on the importance of being a team off the court as much as they are on in order to be successful.
“The chemistry off the court brings the team together to play on the court,” Murgel said. ”It takes five players, not one.”
Murgel gave some words of wisdom and showed a positive attitude towards next year’s team and season.
“Don’t take basketball for granted,” Murgel said. ”Work hard and get better with what you got because when it’s over you don’t get a second chance. I think this final loss should motivate them to work even harder and not get down on the loss but be thankful for the opportunity given to keep striving to get better than before.”
