The Canyon Eagles beat the Palo Duro Dons Tuesday night 68-57 after having to come back from behind in the second half.
“We started out kind of slow, but once we got the ball past their press we had easy layups,” junior Nelson Borchardt said. “We didn’t make of much in the first half, and in the second half we just took over and did what you’re supposed to do at home and finished strong.”
Tuesday night’s game was the first game after head coach Guy Crenshaw’s leave of absence to go to MD Anderson in Houston.
“It was nice to have Coach back,” Borchardt said. “You can definitely tell that we’re a different team when he’s not here, but it was good for him to come back and help us out.”
Canyon will play Randall tonight in their last home district game beginning at 7:30.
“We have to play with the same intensity as PD against Randall,” Borchardt said. “If we play with the same intensity, we’ll come out on top.”
