College day opened to all students
Students can browse a variety of opportunities at the college and career fair in the lower and upper commons Thursday from 8:15-11:30 a.m.
Freshmen will attend from 8:15-9:05 a.m., sophomores will rotate in at 9:10 a.m.-10:00 a.m., juniors will attend from 10:35-11:25 a.m., and seniors can visit during activity period while sophomores and juniors view a presentation in the auditorium.
“In the past, we have done many college and career fairs for the junior class only, but this year we have decided to expand it to freshmen, sophomores and juniors,” college and career counselor Mishon Wright said. “The goal is to let every student talk to representatives and recruiters whether it’s military, trade school, technical school, a college or university.”
Representatives hosting tables at the college fair include the Education Credit Union, Army, Navy, and Amarillo College.
“It will get freshman and sophomores to start thinking about their future and interests early,” Wright said. “Each year they will get to attend the college fair and then their senior year they can attend a big college fair.”
Wright said she plans on emailing students example questions to ask representatives and recruiters.
“My suggestion is just to walk around and visit with everyone there,” Wright said. “That way, you know what your options are and what your choices are for later.”
