Students line up to swim at the Canyon Aqua Park.

Olympic gold medalist Josh Davis and the Canyon Swim Team will host the Mutual of Omaha “Breakout!” Swim clinic for swimmers ages 8 through 18 Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Canyon Aqua Park. Check in will begin at 11:30, and the deadline to register is Sept. 7.

The clinic will cover turns, nutrition, motivation, four strokes and will include in-water teaching, a T-shirt, DVDs and a swim bag. The swim clinic will end at 4:00 on Sept. 9 and will cost a total of $60 for the clinic and merchandise. Davis earned three gold medals in the 1996 games and two silver medals in the 2000 games.

“If you go and watch the trials for swimming, there are about 200 athletes competing,” sophomore swim team member Rylee Higgins said. “To come out on top from that group and get a medal is extremely impressive. I think he will give a great clinic, and I’m excited for the team to attend it.”
