Winter Wonderland Carnival set for Jan. 27
The Canyon Junior High Student Council will host the Winter Wonderland Carnival on Jan. 27 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Canyon Junior High gymnasiums. High school students can volunteer to help at the carnival, which will charge a $3 admission fee and include games, refreshments and a raffle.
High school Student Council president Madison LaFont said proceeds collected from the event will benefit Canyon Junior High.
“The junior high Student Council came up with this fundraiser to raise some money so they can do more things for the school,” LaFont said. “These kids really want to help their school and community, and they have made an event similar to Halloween Happening to do that.”
LaFont said high school students are welcome to volunteer at the carnival.
“The junior high STUCO wants as many people as they can get to volunteer at this event,” LaFont said. “NHS will be running a game booth and the high school STUCO will be running a few games like the ones that we had at the Halloween Happening. Any interested volunteers can come by room 1208 and talk to Mrs. Shaller or any of the other Student Council officers, and we will sign you up.”
LaFont said she is excited for the event and the ways it will benefit the junior high.
“This event will definitely be interesting and fun,” LaFont said. “The kids have worked hard to put this together so I think it will be a really cool community activity.”
