Tonight the champion ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson and Jake Paul are approaching one of the biggest boxing events of 2024. Tyson will face the YouTube star on Netflix at 8:30 p.m.
The fight will take place at the center of AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The bout was going to take place in July, but when Tyson had an ulcer flair-up it had to be postponed. Tyson resumed training towards the end of July and is said to be physically ready for the fight.
Tyson’s last fight was over 19 years ago which ended in him getting TKO’d by Kevin McBride. The fight lasted six rounds before Tyson was hit and fell to the ground resulting in McBride winning the bout.
More recently, Tyson faced Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition in November 2020. Although the crowd thought that Tyson outperformed Jones, the fight was still declared a draw.
Although Tyson is the more experienced fighter, it has been over a decade since Tyson last stepped in the ring. Paul is entering his physical prime when it comes to age, so it will be interesting to see how he performs.
Paul’s dream is to become a world champion boxer so his choice of opponent is kind of random, but he has a reason behind this choice. According to an interview with CNN Paul said, “I think it helps going in there with one of the most ruthless and vicious champions there’s ever been and getting that experience under my belt.”
Paul seems excited about the fight and he is ready for what is to come. When it came to the weigh-in they were both prepared and ready. After the weigh-in, they went to a face-off where Tyson slapped Paul in the face. “He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked out.”
