Boys Basketball claims 2023 Bi-District title
Monday night, Eagle basketball battled to be Bi-District champions against the Monahans Loboes, winning 51-33.
Through the first quarter the Loboes led the Eagles 18-10. In the second quarter Eagles scored 15 and held Monahans to 4, reclaiming the lead 25-22.
After adjustments the Eagles defense only gave up 15 points the rest of the game.
“Everybody kind of settled into our style of play,” head boys basketball coach Travis Schulte said. “Evan and Kemper started getting some shots to fall.”
Senior Kemper Jones led the team scoring 21 points, senior Evan Hughes followed with 11 on the board.
The Eagles will continue their playoff run against El Paso Bowie for the Area title. The Bears and Eagles will meet at Andrews High School on Friday at 1 p.m.
The Eagles enter Area competition with a 28-2 overall record, 10-0 district record and as District 4 champions.
The Bowie Bears from District 1 enter the contest 15-15 overall, 5-4 in district play.
