Choir to perform with WTAMU musicians
The choir will perform in the annual West Texas A&M University Christmas concerts Sunday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in West Texas A&M University’s Mary Moody Northen Hall. The concert will be broadcast on the local PBS channel and the choir will perform alongside the WTAMU choir and orchestra. There is no price of admission, but a ticket is required and can be ordered at (806)-651-2840. No tickets remain for the 4 p.m. performance, but tickets are still available for the 7 p.m. concert. Remaining tickets will be available at the door.
Choir Director Brandon Farren invited the community to celebrate the fine arts by attending the concert.
“Every Christmas, the WT choir invites a high school choir to come perform with them,” Brandon Farren said. “We haven’t done it in quite some time so it is really nice to be back together with WT. This is a difficult concert to prepare since it is so early, but I love the opportunity for the kids to sing alongside a live orchestra.”
The choir has prepared for their Christmas concerts for the past month and will perform four songs with the WT choir and orchestra and two songs as a stand alone ensemble.
“I really enjoy this concert because it is just a different and exciting experience,” senior varsity choir member Claire Horn said. “Every choir is different, so combining with the WT choir creates a whole different mood. Most of the members of the WT choir have very developed voices and are soloists. It’s great to perform alongside a more professional group.”
The Canyon High School choral department will present their own concert Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
