Writing, art contest seeks entries addressing child hunger
The No Kid Hungry Teen Art and Writing Contest invites students to submit writing or artwork that makes a statement about child hunger in the United States. Contest submissions must be turned in Oct. 17 and the winners will be announced Nov. 21.
In order to be eligible, students must be residents of the United States and in the seventh through 12th grades at the time of entry. Students may submit a personal or persuasive essay, a poem, a short story, a short film, a photo essay or artwork which addresses the problem of child hunger in the U.S.
In order to submit an entry, students need to visit the website, fill out an entry form with teacher approval and provide a paragraph description of their work with a title. Students must attach the work as a Word document, a PDF, a JPG, a PowerPoint or a URL link for web-based videos and pictures.
The judges will select three runners-up from each category for a total of 12 winners who will receive $100 cash scholarship and a $100 donation to their school. One grand prize winner from each category will also receive a $500 scholarship and a $200 donation to their school.
