Psychiatrist for ‘In Cold Blood’ murder trial to speak Friday
Psychiatrist Mitchell Jones, who evaluated killers Perry Smith and Dick Hickock featured in the novel “In Cold Blood,” will speak in the auditorium tomorrow at 10 a.m. Students who have read the book are invited to hear him speak.
“In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote follows the investigation of the 1959 murder of the Clutter family in the small town of Holcomb, Kansas and the trial of murderers Perry Smith and Dick Hickock. English III students read the novel each year.
“It’s a nice opportunity that he’s willing to speak, and it definitely shouldn’t be missed or taken for granted,” Jamie Crosswhite, English IV AP and Dual Credit teacher, said. “It’s my understanding that he doesn’t give many public appearances, so it is a rarity that we would be privileged to hear him speak.”
