Cenee Precure joined the CHS faculty as librarian at the beginning of the spring semester. Her mission: to transition the library into utilizing trending technology and make an impact on students’ learning.
“Libraries are on a verge of change,” Precure said. “They are transforming from a library to a learning commons area, which is a place where students come to work on projects, learn and even hang out. I want to incorporate more e-books and technology. My goal is for the library to be what students and faculty want.”
Precure said a library’s most important responsibility is to impact students in their learning.
“Helping students find an avenue of learning that they find enjoyment in and finding resources that drive students to learn is empowering,” Precure said. “I want this to be a place where students feel comfortable coming.”
Precure said she loves working with people and being welcoming which is why being a librarian is the best role for her.
“I want students to know that they are welcome here,” Precure said. “I don’t want anyone to feel fear coming in here and asking questions. I want to build relationships with students and faculty. I care about what they’re doing and want to be a part of everything at Canyon High.”
