After winning the zone competition March 23, the cast of the one-act play “The Liar” will advance to district Tuesday following a public performance Monday at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Cast members senior Chandler Shaw and juniors Marissa Hernandez and Zach Howell earned all-star cast, which is awarded to eight people in the competition. Junior Tasneem Alvi was named to the honorable mention all-star cast.
“It was great to win an award my first year having a role in one act,” Hernandez said. “I was really glad the judge liked our performance.
Sophomore Ryan Land was named best actor.
“It was great to be recognized for all the hard work I’ve put in,” Land said. “My cast members gave me a lot to work with. I didn’t expect it.”
The tech crew of Miranda Ithaca, David Bishop, Rylan Veigel, Zach Kelley and Blake Hartman earned the outstanding tech award.
“I’m very proud that my amazing tech crew was able to gain the outstanding tech award,” Ithaca said. “I hope we are able to gain this again going into district.”
Shaw said this was the first time she won the all-star cast award.
“I was honored,” Shaw said. “Our cast has really grown as a family. I can’t wait to continue this journey.”
