The food drive results shattered previous school records with a total of 9117 units of food collected for the High Plains Food Bank. The cans from the junior high food drive will be added to the total number prior to their entry into the canned food drive contest among different schools in the area.
The totals for each class were as follows: seniors 3283, juniors 4,528, sophomores 246, and freshmen 1065. The junior class is the smallest class on campus.
Although the juniors will watch a movie Tuesday afternoon in celebration of their victory, the student council officers said the movie incentive was not the driving factor for students.
“It was the movie incentive that started it, but then grades started going after it and trash talking who was better,” senior and student council president Ben Hassell.
