The Winterguard will be performing “Carrying the Banner” from the Disney musical “Newsies” at 8 p.m. tonight in the small gym.

The performance is free and is open to all members of the community. Winterguard is an indoor version of Colorguard. Freshman Erin Sheffield, daughter of Winterguard director  Michele Sheffield, said Wintergaurd is just starting to develop in the area.

“Our current Colorguard is shrinking, so we were trying to create growth,” Sheffield said. “It’s something new and something to invest in. It’s also way for them to get critiqued. It’s good for people who aspire to be in Colorguard, and is just a fun experience.”
