Cheerleading tryouts to begin Feb. 29
Cheerleading and mascot tryouts will begin 4 p.m. today, Feb. 29 in the small gym.
Students interested in tryouts need to get a handbook from room 1205. The tryout process will begin with a stunting clinic Feb. 29 and March 1, and finish with a cheer, chant and dance clinic March 7 – 10.
“The judging rubric for cheerleading and mascot tryouts is available on the cheerleading webpage,” varsity cheerleading sponsor Anne Skalsky said. “The tryout results will be posted on the website on March 11 as well.”
Students who attend the necessary clinics are able to try out for places on varsity, junior varsity and freshman squads. Skalsky said students can try out for new leadership roles on each squad as well.
“New this year, we are adding a head cheerleader and an assistant head cheerleader for each squad,” Skalsky said. “Students will need to pick up an application in room 1205, and the application is due April 4.”
