Students will give out candy as prizes throughout the event.

Community children can attend the annual Halloween Happening Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. in Canyon High School’s commons.

Attendance is free, and costumes are allowed as long as they are school appropriate. Attendees can participate in a car show, a trunk or treat event and pet adoptions. Student Council (STUCO) sponsor Kimberly Sharber said at least 32 activities will be available at the event.

“Everyone is really stepping up this year,” Sharber said. “Key Club will have three games, football will have a hallway, and volleyball and golf will be doing stuff. The Parent Teacher Student Association, or PTSA, they’ll have a booth, as well as Spanish Club. The Drama Club will have a cake walk, and the choir will have a flash mob. At least 75 students from Canyon High will be helping out, and that’s just Student Council.”

STUCO members helped organize the event, bringing new activities to this year’s Halloween Happening.

“It has always been a great outreach to the community,” Sharber said. “Students let me know we have a Car Club and Truck Club on campus. So, they came to me and suggested a car show. Also, somebody mentioned a pet adoption, so we talked with Gracie’s Project, which is an organization that does a lot of rescuing and fostering of pets, so they will be there.”

Sharber said she’s excited to have all these programs working together.

“Halloween Happening has been going on for a while, and everybody is going all out this year,” Sharber said. “We hope the community will enjoy the event because of all the work the students and I have put into it.”
