Juniors shovel for others on snow day
Snow was everywhere. In the streets, in people’s yards, on their roofs, and most devastating, blocking their driveways. While some see shoveling snow off the driveway as a chore and a nuisance, three boys took advantage of their day off of school to shovel snow for their neighbors.
Over the snow day, juniors Derius Jones, Tyler Briney and Zane Crabtree shoveled snow for neighbors that could not shovel the snow themselves.
“Our friend Zane said it would be a good idea to shovel snow for people that needed it, so we, as able-bodied young gentlemen, went and did that,” Jones said.
The three boys shoveled about 10 driveways. They started shoveling at 8:00 a.m. and didn’t stop until around noon.
“We started shoveling for a few elderly people that we knew needed help,” Briney said. “Then we just went around and asked if anyone needed our help, and we helped the people who needed it. It kept us busy for the day.”
The boys shoveled the driveways at no charge to the people they helped.
“It was nice to see the smiles on the faces of the people we helped,” Jones said. “It was a good feeling.”
