One act performs “Hamlet” for community tonight
The one act play “Hamlet” will be performed tonight at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is free.
The play was named alternate at the District 3-4A One Act Competition. Junior Trevor Fleeman received the best lighting tech award. Seniors Shane Price, Tayten Martin and Kori Adair were named Honorable Mention All-Star Cast members, and senior Ryan Land was named All-Star Cast member.
“Hamlet,” written by William Shakespeare and adapted by Dave Yirak, is set in a modern, dystopian society. After the death of his father, Hamlet, played by Land, struggles to accept the rapid marriage of his mother, Gertrude, played by Adair, and his uncle, Claudius, played by Martin. Hamlet’s only confidants include Ophelia, played by senior Morgan Finke, and a few attendants. The audience follows Hamlet’s investigation of his father’s death and his personal battle against madness.
