When every day is ‘Friday’…
Key Club raises funds for American Cancer Society with pop song
Canyon High School’s Key Club will blast the song “Friday” during each passing period until students have raised $1,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Randall High School’s Key Club played the song “Baby” by Justin Beiber and collected $1,500 in a week. Last year, Canyon’s Key Club attempted to raise $1,000 without playing a song and did not reach the goal.
“We were actually far from it,” Key Club president Josh Collins said. “As a school, Randall had outstanding results. We are hoping to duplicate their success for the American Cancer Society. We thought that hearing ‘Friday’ on Monday through Thursday would make the entire experience more irritating, positively impacting the amount of donations we would receive.”
Students can donate money in room 1306 for the American Cancer Society.
“Every dollar we receive will go not only to research a cure, but also toward cancer prevention, helping families through diagnosis and treatment, as well as many other things,” Collins said. “It’s an amazing cause, and I am honored to support it.”
