Library to host book club
The library will host a guest-led book club during first and second lunch this semester.
The club will meet Feb. 4, Feb. 25, March 4, March 25, April 1 and April 29. To join, students need to talk to a librarian and pick of a copy of the book, “The Running Dream.”
“Its about a girl that’s very athletic that loses her leg and how she copes with life after that,” librarian Mrs. Precure said. “I think that there are so many life lessons young adults can take from it.”
Precure said she wanted to start a book club when she first came to Canyon High School.
“It’s hard for me to do it at lunch when things are going on in the library,” Mrs. Precure said. “I had a friend tell me about the book, and I asked her if she was serious about doing the club, and she said yes.”
The guest speaker is a member of the BUGS Book Club in Canyon.
“The BUGS is made up of probably 15 plus former librarians and former teachers,” Precure said. “In January, they are also reading ‘The Running Dream.’”
About nine students have signed up so far, and the club is seeking six more students.
“Just come and try it out,” Precure said. “Even if you haven’t signed up but you’ve read it, you can still come and listen.”
