“In eighth grade, we were down by three, and I caught the ball,” junior Xavier Ortiz said. “I dribbled and I shot a three pointer and we tied the game. Everyone was cheering; my teammates were cheering and it made me love the game of basketball. I quit my sophomore year, and it made me sad I wasn’t playing with my teammates. It has always been my passion, so I got back into it. I don’t know if I’ll play in college, but I want to be a basketball coach. I’ve always had a passion for coaching. You’re deeper into the game of basketball, and you get to help the team win a championship.”
