“I was preparing for three UIL events, but because of worries about the coronavirus, UIL decided to postpone events,” sophomore Cameron Renner said. “I was going to do competitions in number sense and math, which are tests dealing with math skills. I was district champion for number sense last year, so I was really hoping to see how I’d improve.”
“I also play golf, but since it is a summer sport and they are thinking about moving the competition to the summer, I am not too worried. We were supposed to have district for academics, but those are gone for now. I was a little upset, but we will have more opportunities, especially if UIL decides to continue stuff later in the year. I really thought I could get to state this year because most of the people that beat me last year were seniors. I like the things I do, and some of them possibly giving me scholarships is an added bonus, so I’m missing out. I see it as more time to practice and get better, and since I enjoy going to tournaments, there are always more chances.”
