“Hockey is definitely a social thing,” sophomore AJ Smith said. “In school, I am kind of an introvert but when I’m there I am an assistant captain and I am usually talking quite a bit. The assistant captains lead inside of the team, where you don’t really recognize them as much as in the public eye, but they lead by example. Since I’ve played so long, I have kind of grown as a family with my other teammates. It also has taught me to be a hard worker because you have to work hard or you’re not going to win.”
