“TeenPact is a legislative event where you debate bills, it’s like congress where you’re a senator for a week,” freshman Nolan Prock said. “You get to write a bill and debate why your bill should be passed and people can pass an amendment for your bill. My bill was about raising the age to purchase cigarettes to 25, it got passed and someone wrote an amendment on it. My cousin started TeenPact when she was 12 and I wasn’t interested until this year. I thought it was going to be boring but it was a lot of fun. At the contest we got to walk around the Capital of Oklahoma and meet lobbyists and learn about all the different branches of government. It’s really cool to meet like minded people there. There’s thousands of people and you can make more friends. It’s cool getting to see how involved everyone is.”
