A meeting will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in the auditorium for those interested in auditioning for the UIL One Act play “Much Ado about Nothing” by William Shakespeare.

Students will watch a film of the play and read through audition material. The audition process will begin after Thanksgiving.

“’Much Ado about Nothing’ is one about love,” play director Dave Yirak said. “There’s a confirmed bachelor and bachelorette that both swear they’ll never get married, and of course a lot of people take it upon themselves to trick them into thinking that the other likes them. It’s also about young love. Claudio and Hero are madly in love, and there’s a villain in the play that’s trying to undo their love. Being young and rash, Claudio believes these awful stories about his intended Hero, and he leaves her at the wedding alter. There’s an inept constable that discovers the plot and makes it well known. He brings everything out in the open, and at the end everyone ends up happy and married.”

Yirak said the play is one of his favorite shows.

“I love it because it has some just hilarious moments,” Yirak said. “It also has some very dramatic moments and there are great characters for a lot of people.”
