Two students placed in the state FFA Leadership Development Events in Huntsville Jan. 2 and 3.

Junior McKenna Bush placed eighth out of 733 in Senior Creed Speaking and senior Tyler Nelson, who participated in the Job Interview competition, tied for 11th out of 476 in the state of Texas. Bush said she enjoyed Creed Speaking but does not plan on doing it next year and instead wants to focus on Parliamentary Procedure, a contest where a team of students solves a problem introduced from parliamentary law.

“I had to learn on my own with just my Ag teachers to instruct me,” Bush said. “I had a great experience that I will remember for the rest of my life, and I’ve learned valuable skills not only from Creed Speaking, but also just being involved in FFA.”

Nelson said he learned how to properly interview for a job and how to conduct himself in an interview.

“I also learned how communicate with adults in a professional manner,” Nelson said. “I plan on using these skills in my everyday life whether it be interviewing for a job or talking to people in an everyday situation.”
