Sophomore Zoe Kizziar practices during summer band earlier this month.

The band will perform tonight in their Soundblast at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Saturday, the band will hit the streets in their annual Marchathon.

During Soundblast, the band will perform stand tunes and music from their upcoming show, “Into the Sky.” The colorguard will also perform their part of the show before the band. The Marchathon is an annual fundraiser for the band, in which students march 10 miles throughout Canyon. Both events are open to the public.

It’s really fun for our audience because they get a firsthand experience of the music and what we do.

“Soundblast will be our first performance of our 2019-2020 season,” senior drum major Macy McClish said. “It’s really fun for our audience because they get a firsthand experience of the music and what we do.”

The Marchathon begins around 7 a.m. Saturday at Freedom Fellowship Church and ends roughly around noon at Canyon High School.

“It’s a bonding experience, and it all brings everyone together,” drum major and senior Wade House said. “It helps the band form a great bond so we can have a good time whether we win or lose.”

Band students raised money for personal band needs prior to Saturday, but donations will also be accepted during the Marchathon. The event has become a tradition for the community as well as a time to build unity among band members.

“It’s not a memory because of how hard it is,” House said. “It’s a memory because of the people you’re with.”
