Softball mercy rules Caprock, faces Randall for second time

The varsity softball team faced the Lady Longhorns Tuesday night and run ruled them 15-0, making their district record 5-3.
“We played great against Caprock,” sophomore third baseman Jaci Castagnetta said. “We played with a passion, a purpose, and a fire to win.”
The Lady Eagles will travel to Randall today to battle against the Lady Raiders for the second time at 4:30 p.m.
“Playing Randall the first time showed us what needed to improve on and I think we have,” junior first baseman Kati Krause said. “We know what to expect for this game.”
Softball team to defend district winning streak
As the softball team gets further into their first round of district they hold on to a 3-0 record after defeating Dumas and Caprock over spring break and then Hereford March 23.
The girls run-ruled Dumas in the fifth inning with a 15-5 lead March 17. Battling the opposition and the elements March 19, Canyon came out with a 9-8 win over Caprock by taking the 9-6 lead in the sixth inning. Run-ruling Hereford March 23 with a 17-0 victory, the girls said they anticipate their next district game.
The team prepares to face Randall, the other undefeated team in their district Saturday. Randall has come out with victories over Pampa, Dumas and Caprock in the first two weeks of district play. Players said they hope to get their first district win over Randall.
