The food drive results shattered previous school records with a total of 9117 units of food collected for the High Plains Food Bank. The cans from the junior high food drive will be added to the total number prior to their entry into the canned food drive contest among different schools in the area.

The totals for each class were as follows: seniors 3283, juniors 4,528, sophomores 246, and freshmen 1065. The junior class is the smallest class on campus.

Although the juniors will watch a movie Tuesday afternoon in celebration of their victory, the student council officers said the movie incentive was not the driving factor for students.

“It was the movie incentive that started it, but then grades started going after it and trash talking who was better,” senior and student council president Ben Hassell.

Students can win $100 for bringing food to the Randall game this Friday, Oct 30 and participating in the High Plains food drive.

Three cans of food earn students one chance in the drawing.  Students can bring as many cans as they wish to earn as many entries as they want.  Cans may be dropped off at the south guest entrance of Kimbrough Memorial stadium from 6:30pm through the end of the first quarter.

The class with the most cans will win a movie afternoon on Tuesday, November 24.

Football player, band members, and any other student not able to participate can bring their cans to the commons Friday morning between 7:45 and 8:15 to earn the entries.
