The Book Club will begin with the book “Sleeping Freshman Never Lie,” by David Lubar.

The Book Club will begin meetings Wednesday, Sept. 30. in the back of the library during first and second lunch.

Library volunteer Chris Ferguson leads the club which will meet once a month in the back of the library during first and second lunch. Books are offered to each lunch period every month. This month both lunches are given the opportunity to read “Sleeping Freshman Never Lie,” by David Lubar. Librarian Cenee Precure said   copies of the offered novel are available in the library.

“I would like for students to feel that it is a very safe environment,” Precure said. “They do not have to have read the book to be able to participate. Maybe they just want a group that they can connect with that talks about different issues that teens are dealing with, whether it is in the book or not in the book. The conversation starts with the book and evolves into other things.”

You can come, talk about literature, feel safe and feel like you are with a group of students that have similar interests in talking about these issues.

Precure said consistent attendance at the book club is not necessary.

“I would like students to feel that there is not pressure, whether they can come or not come on a particular week,” Precure said. “It’s an environment where they can bring their lunch. Sometimes there are cookies. Sometimes there are treats. You can come, talk about literature, feel safe and feel like you are with a group of students that have similar interests in talking about these issues.”
