From heart to Hart, the Soaring Pride Band reached out to a band in need, recording the Hart High School fight song and school song for them to use at homecoming events.
When the director of the Hart band quit, the district was unable to find a new director, forcing the school to cut the program. With homecoming just around the corner and no band, the reputation of the Canyon High band led the principal to call head director Mike Sheffield for help.
“I was glad we could help them,” Sheffield said. “The principal had a daughter attend Canyon and knew the band had a good reputation.”
Hart may not be lacking a band for long, though. Sheffield said the school plans to look for a new director in April.
