The boys and girls golf teams will advance to the regional tournament, with both teams earning second place out of six teams at district. With the boys’ total of 624 and the girls’ total of 754, the teams with the two lowest scores advanced from district.

I think we have a decent chance at state.

The boys team will compete April 11-12, and the girls will compete April 13-14, both at the Rawls Course in Lubbock. Senior Andrew Brewer placed first individually in the boy’s district tournament and sophomore Macy Mitchell placed second individually in the girls’ district tournament.

“I just started a year and a half ago,” Mitchell said. “It’s pretty awesome that I’ve come this far in such a short time. We needed to beat Randall in order to advance to regionals, and my team fought to keep our position.”

The boys were six shots short of coming in first place.

“I shot 75 the first day and was in second place,” Brewer said. “The second day I shot 74 and won. I placed third sophomore year, second junior year, and first this year. It’s kind of ironic.”

Brewer said the team rallied and almost came back to beat Randall.

“If we play as good as we did the second day of district, I think we have a decent chance at state,” Brewer said.
