The varsity soccer teams will compete in bi-district playoff games against Abilene Cooper this Thursday, March 26, at Lubbock Monterey High School.

The boys’ game starts at 5:00 p.m. followed by the girls’ at 7:00 p.m. Varsity girls’ soccer player and junior Brittany Gregory starts in both forward and mid-field positions. Gregory said the season had ups and downs but is ending well.

“I think we have a good chance of winning,” Gregory said. “We all get along better and work as a team.”

As a freshman who was moved from junior varsity for the post-season play, Brianna Ramsay said she is looking forward to the experience of being part of the playoffs.

“I’m kind of nervous because it’s my freshman year,” Ramsay said. “I think we’ll do pretty well because of our teamwork. We know what we’re going to do, and we know the next move to take.”

Varsity boys’ player and senior Aleksander Bula said the coach and team captains have the biggest influence on the team.

“They helped us in tough moments and created a great team spirit,” Bula said. “Thanks to them, we really played like a team. On Thursday, we will do our best. We won’t come from the field with a regret that we could’ve done more. I hope we will win, but for sure we won’t give up easily. Our rival will remember us.”
