Sophomores Emma Wilcox and Lauren Taylor audition for the student winter showcase to be presented Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.

Drama Club will host their Children’s Winter Workshop and high school winter showcase this Saturday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

The winter showcase, which will feature students singing, dancing and the performance of holiday scenes, will follow the children’s performance in a student written and directed play. Both shows are free of charge.

This week is a great opportunity for parents, friends and community members to see what we do alongside our major productions.

“Last year was our first year doing this,” adviser Kylie Howell said. “We had a lot of fun, so we decided we were going to do it again this year. The kids will perform their show they’ve learned over the course of the workshop. They will step out into the audience and watch the peer mentors they’ve been working with perform a Christmas showcase. That will consist of Christmas songs, short scenes, little fun things the students have put together for the holidays.”

Howell said the children’s workshop and student showcases are a good way to involve the community the theater program.

“This is a really busy week for the theater program,” Howell said “The classes have been working really hard this semester to get the showcases put together. This week is a great opportunity for parents, friends and community members to see what we do alongside our major productions. It’s a good opportunity to see what else is going on in the theater department. I want people to come see that work as well.”
