    To be effective, masks should cover both one's nose and mouth. Wearing a mask below one's nose, under one's chin or hanging off one's face eliminates the purpose of the mask and creates a higher risk of infection. For best results, a face mask should contain multiple layers of fabric or a filter, and should be washed frequently.

    According to the National Park Foundation, the United States produces over 260 million tons of waste every year. When traveling to Parks over spring break, it is important to pick up one's own trash instead of leaving it for others to deal with.

Greg Abbott's announcement that all state-wide mandates in regard to COVID-19 will be lifted, the CISD school board voted Monday, March 8 that masks will be optional for students and staff effective April 5. Editor-in-Chief Hannah Backus comments on the decision and how to treat others equally, regardless of whether someone chooses to wear a mask or not.

    Ablest terms are outdated and are offensive to all people, whether targeted at individuals with intellectual disabilities or not. Using such terms can cause lasting damage to people with learning problems. Although not a new discussion, it is time to finally say goodbye to the word
