Canyon High School National Honor Society inducts 71 new members at ceremony Nov. 3. A video and photos will be available to family and friends to celebrate this accomplishment with their new inductee.

The National Honor Society hosted its annual induction ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 4 during activity period in the auditorium.

NHS selections are based upon four criteria; scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS members serve through various charities and community projects throughout the school year. Both current and new members attended the induction ceremony.

A video and student pictures will be available for students and parents to download for free, in lieu of in-person attendance.

Members have earned this honor through their leadership, their scholarship, their service and their character.

— Hannah Hamil, NHS Secretary

“This year, we are going to video and take pictures for parents so they can still have that memory and still celebrate their child’s accomplishment,” NHS sponsor Heather Hale said.

NHS Secretary, senior Hannah Hamil, assisted in planning the ceremony. Hamil said the induction ceremony is special for all members, new and current.

“You have to earn being an NHS member,” Hamil said. “The induction ceremony is a way to honor those who are inducted and celebrate their accomplishments. The ceremony acts as a starting point into your service in NHS.”

Hamil said NHS helps give its members pride in their school and community and an eagerness to serve others.

“We want people to be excited about getting into NHS,” Hamil said. “Members should be proud of what they have accomplished. I remember feeling proud of myself and proud of my classmates for getting in. Members have earned this honor through their leadership, their scholarship, their service and their character. NHS is a place to celebrate that.”
