Canyon Area Library to host teen movie night

The Canyon Area Library will show “Jurassic World” at a movie night for teenagers from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 11.

The Canyon Area Library provides a range of free services to cardholders, including free online services and access to comic books, graphic novels, movies and novels. The upcoming movie night offers teenagers an opportunity to explore the library’s  resources.

“The library sponsors programs for teens in an effort to let them know that there’s more to the library than books,” assistant librarian Brooke Mjolsness said. “We also want to let them know that there’s a fun, safe space they can go to to hang out and do homework.”

The teen movie night is one of multiple programs to raise library awareness.

“Our summer reading program is coming up in June and July,” Mjolsness said. “We’ve got Zumba, pilates, our annual swim day and movie nights for teens.”
