“I think acting is an excellent way to express yourself, and even better way to entertain others and make their life better through what you love,” junior Maverick Evans said. “I am going to attempt to have a career in acting. I am not positive in how far I’ll get in my career, but I am going to go to college to get a Drama Performance major. I have played several roles in high school. I haven’t done anything outside of high school yet, but I want to. So far, I have done six plays. Right now, I’m at two One-Act leads, supports and dancing in one musical and supports and leads in several other class plays. I just try and do as much as possible. Last year, I got an award for being the most active theater participant. It takes a lot of willingness to let go of all of your pre-concieved notions to act. As soon as you let go of knowing that people are judgemental, you will be able to do whatever. You’re going to look like an idiot half the time, but if you can master that, then you will be going places. I think that the Oscars isn’t the end-all-be-all. If Leo hadn’t have gotten the Oscar, he still would have been just as successful and just as happy in what he is doing. Acting is something you do for yourself and not an award.”
